Gulf Gateway Resort and Marina owes $34,336.51 in penalties and investigation costs after a contractor holding only a land clearing permit took out roughly a thousand trees along the North Spreader shoreline, with bank stabilization on 545 feet of shoreline started August 18 and replanting to follow once the agencies sign off.

🔗 The Beach's Mosquito District Goes on the November Ballot
Voters in both the Fort Myers Beach and Lee County mosquito control districts have to approve a merger for it to happen, and beach commissioners are fighting it on cost and response time, since the county rate of .22 per thousand nearly doubles the beach district's .1123, the lowest in the state.
